Brun has a Mission Team. We've been
trained under the oversight of
Through Faith Missions, an organisation that has run
some 600 small and large missions in the UK and abroad;
they have trained thousands of people.

Some of the Brun Mission Team...
From time to time, we go out into
Gloucester, to share the Good News about Jesus Christ.
Sometimes we visit people at their homes; sometimes we
talk to them on the streets.
Did you know that in Gloucester, of the hundreds of
people we have spoken to so far, about 70% believe God
exists? This is encouraging. Some of those that we talk
to receive the Lord Jesus into their lives.
Spring 2011 Mission
- we went from house to house ...
Jesus sent his disciples out two by two, to proclaim
the kingdom of God (Luke 9:2),
& to go out into his harvest field
(Luke 10:1-3).
On Saturday morning 26th March, we went out, two by two.
Our team of eight were Tony, José, Phocas, Colin,
Philip, two students from
Redcliffe College, and Wilfredo.

After meeting at Brun to pray and prepare, we went to
the Kingsholm area, starting there at about 9:30am, to
talk to people about Jesus.
We chose our streets, and went out in twos, knocking on
doors. Many people were out, perhaps gone shopping, but
we found about 65 homes with people there. Most of these
were happy to talk with us, and we asked them about
their beliefs. Overall, nearly 80% of them believe that
God exists, and 60% would like a relationship with God.
We were then able to share with them how to know God
personally, and explained how Jesus has opened the way
to God.
Tony (paired with José) said, “It
was totally worthwhile, and we met some extremely
interesting people. I felt that for some of them, their
hearts were open. Only two were not interested.”
Philip said, “I was teamed up with
Phocas, who was new to this. Once he got going, he was
really good at sharing the gospel message and witnessing
to people. We had some fascinating conversations, and it
showed us that many people out there really are open
minded, and questioning what life is about and where God
fits into it all.”
Helen (paired with Wilfredo) said, “I
was encouraged by the fact that most of those we talked
to were open to share their views with us, and some also
seemed to think deeply about God and the meaning of
life. I feel that [our approach] is really helpful in
facilitating a conversation and in … simply listening to
people and to God at the same time.”
Summer 2010 Mission - go into the streets...
On Saturday 26th June, 2010, nine of us met at
Brunswick Baptist Church to pray. Then we went out into
the streets to talk to people about Jesus.
On the team were Bernard Twiddy (Nailsworth); Pastor Colin
Pavitt; David Dowling; Jacqui and Charlie Brunger
(Daglingworth); José Jurando Aranda; Kola Authe (Love of
God Church, Gloucester); Maureen Keepin (Bibury); Philip
Tory and Richard Hill.
Working mostly in pairs, we had good conversations with
61 people. The results were consistent with our previous
missions: 72% believe there is some kind of God; 60% of
these believe he is a personal and close being; and 60%
said they would like a personal relationship with God.
This led to further conversations about knowing God
personally, and some of them were led to Christ.
Bernard: “I had several
interesting conversations. One elderly lady turned out
to be a C of E vicar's wife and, of course, she knew it
all! At least one person we spoke to, gave his life to
The Lord.”
José: “Richard was talking to a
young man who said he didn't believe, but wished he had
faith. Questions such as "What do you believe about
Jesus?" and "If you could know God personally, would you
be interested?" really challenged him. Maybe he was
being asked to reconsider whether there is a God, who
had been challenging him there and then. Simply meeting
a chap like him makes it all worth it, doesn't it?”
Richard: “Colin and I spent quite
a while speaking to the shopkeeper of a local charity
shop. He said that he didn't believe in God, but if
others wanted to believe, he had no problem with that.”
Jacqui: “It was an exciting
challenge that, at first, felt a little unnerving; but
the sun was shining upon us all in more ways than one.
Every witness was worthwhile and many left with a smile.
We met several members of one family in different places
which was interesting, and God's spirit moved as tears
flowed and healing was forthcoming - such a loving
Father we have.”
Maureen: “Going out on the streets
is just such a privilege. Five simple questions can have
tremendous results. Even if people started with 'No'
they do not believe in God, after a couple of minutes
they can be saying they would like to know God
personally. Who but an amazing God could do that?!”
Philip: “It was a fruitful
morning. One man gave his life to Christ and, later, a
lovely, silver-haired lady with her 12-year-old
grand-daughter. Both prayed together and invited Jesus
into their lives. What a wonderful Lord we have!”
This was a truly worthwhile time out with the Lord.
Thank you all for your prayers. Why not join us next
time, if only to “come and see”?
– With God going before us, it’s easier than you
think.

Just talking about Jesus...

First, pray...

... then give it the 'ring of bells'!
