Ladies@Brun is for all
the ladies in the church, plus any guests they wish to
bring along.
We meet in one another’s
houses, bring and share food for the evening. The aim is
to get to know one another better and to share ideas for
things we might like to do, or topics we might wish to
discuss.
We try to meet on the third
Saturday evening in each month; sometimes this may not
be possible, but we try.
Before everyone says this
seems rather loose and disorganised, it is meant to be!
This is for everyone to be part of if they want to, and
so the arrangements must be flexible to fit around
church life, so that it is a joy, not an extra burden.
We made fruit smoothies in
the kitchen at Lena's house in January, and
talked in the lounge, and ate cake and drank coffee and
tea, and had a very happy time, (noisy too).
In
February, we went to visit Rachel Howard in the
snow, and told some of our stories about how we came to
be in Gloucester, we also drank Hot Chocolate with
marshmallows and ate cake.
Esther Dowling invited us in March – more
wonderful food – and we considered questions like, “What
would you do if you could choose a new career?” It was
during this evening that Alison suggested the Hustings.
We all thought we would like to hear what the
parliamentary candidates had to say about various
things; so I asked Colin, and Colin asked the Deacons,
and they all said yes: so off we went!
Our
next meeting was at Marcia’s, and we thought about our
greatest hopes, dreams and ambitions. We turned
them into a prayer and wrote them down; we will look at
them again before Christmas.
In
July, we went to a Barn Dance and took our
men with us. Great fun!
In
August, we visited Hilary and learnt a few words
in different languages: “International Greetings” – the
fun continues!
So, if you have an idea for one of the meetings, or
would like to invite everyone to your home, please do! |
